…you created a steampunk world of superheroes!!!1!
From an email of someone who read (and thankfully enjoyed) the book.
That really wasn’t my intention when writing it, but I guess you could look at it that way. (Spoilers ahead.) Dr. Monocle has the power of intelligence; The Strongman obviously has crazy strength and is impervious to most damage; Mother Moth is a winged maldeviant (mutant) gangster; The WingedMen of The Chasm are individually talented in acrobatics and can sorta fly (Louise, Leo, Hendryk, and Edwynn Fantastyk).
Then there’s The League of Ornery Bedfellows: The Fool Assassin is a crazed maniac; The Weather Man can create violent storms; and there’s Ms. Shelton who is the smooth femme fatale of the group.
That Certain Gentleman and Scheckendale Kilmarten, while mysterious, seem to be men of infinite means. And Kilmarten has that steamdriver, Black Iron Death.
GhostWurks is the massive group of masked government agents, always lurking, always hidden until they decide otherwise. Kind of like a Big Brother entity made up of a vast group of agents.
The Insectoid Six are the group of violent gangsters and outlaws terrorizing The Chasm metros (a little weird west within the steampunk). Although, they’re not really a focus in this book (will be more-so in the next).
Anyway, if you’d like to check out the book, you can read the first half Spectacular Moments of Wonder with Dr. Monocle: That Certain Gentleman on Scribd for free. It’s available in full for $0.99 on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc.
